Members of the Highlands & Islands Climate Hub can access its funding programmes for financial and practical support. The Climate Action Fund provides small grants of up to £1,000 to support climate initiatives and community engagement. The monthly Funding Finder summarises open funding opportunities for sustainable projects. Climate Action Ting is a Green Participatory Budgeting programme for the communities of Shetland to access and distribute grants of up to £7,500 to community projects seeking to take climate action. The Food Hygiene Heroes training supports sustainable food & growing projects by enabling staff and volunteers to obtain a Level 2 Training in Food Hygiene & Safety.
Filmed over the Summer of 2023 by film-maker Cameron Mackay in close association with the Highlands & Islands Climate Hub, Climate Action Highlands & Islands tells the stories of the hub’s members taking positive action in their communities to combat climate change.
Each Autumn, the Highlands & Islands Climate Festival celebrates localism to showcase the diverse climate action being taken to make Highland, Orkney and Shetland sustainable places. The festival features a diverse range of fun and informative events, including active travel, repair cafes, growing open days, film screenings, talks, and competitions.
Sustainable Spaces helps communities implement sustainable practices in their community spaces to become more environmentally friendly by reducing carbon emissions and promoting the reuse of resources.
The Highlands & Islands Climate Hub works in partnership to lead the Highland Charter for Climate, Nature & Health. It is a pledge to put climate, nature, and the benefits of green and blue health at the centre of decision-making and action. Local people, communities and organisations are encouraged to sign the Charter and take 1 action per year.
The Highland Repair Network and Orkney Circular Economy Directory are a collection of interactive maps, designed to help people find nearby repair and recycling facilities.
